Meet Our Team of Summer Interns!
Rose Johnson from George Washington University is currently studying international affairs and will be focusing her time with us on opening our new Community Center on the island of San Cristobal! She is tasked with surveying the local population to find out what kind of programs they want the most, and then implementing those programs!
Emilie Street is currently in Graduate School pursuing her Masters in Public Service at the Clinton School for Public Service. She is Rose’s partner in crime out on San Cristobal and is similarly tasked with the opening of the new community center and implementation of programming!
Erum Savja from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, is currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Studies and Education. For her internship with Give & Surf, Erum has been working in our various educational programs, providing support in the form of planning, resource building, advising, and also hands on teaching and assisting in the classroom!
Ross Owyoung is also pursuing his Masters degree in Public Service at the Clinton School of Public Service. He is developing a curriculum for the Community Center on Isla Bastimentos to serve as the foundation for the community center’s educational program model, specifically our after-school program. He is researching best practices, using participant observation to assess the current program curriculum, and collaborating with the organization’s other community centers to determine the best-suited curriculum for the Isla Bastimentos Community Center.
Holden Taylor is studying Finance at Indiana Univeristy and is providing support at the After School program on Bastimentos with Ross, while also assisting our Executive Director with various Finance and Marketing initiatives. He will also be assisting in the planning and execution of a surf competition for local kids on the Island of Carenero!
